Together with our partner, we were the first in Germany to switch from disposable plastic to paper sleeves, thus setting the new market standard. This innovation demonstrates our strong commitment to environmentally friendly packaging solutions and has had a lasting impact on the industry.

However, our commitment to sustainability does not end here. We are continuously working to reduce the amount of plastic in our products. By developing and implementing new materials and packaging solutions, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint and promote more sustainable alternatives. Our goal is to reduce our environmental impact while maintaining the quality of our products.

CO₂ reduction

We have made it our mission to actively contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Through a series of targeted measures, we ensure that we are constantly developing in the area of sustainability and actively drive this progress forward.

Our mission

Our mission is clear and powerful: we want to actively contribute to climate protection and preserve our planet for future generations. In Germany, we have redefined the market standard by being the first to switch from disposable plastic to paper banding for household tissues.

By using recyclable packaging made from natural raw materials, we are consistently reducing plastic consumption and working tirelessly to develop completely plastic-free products. Our commitment is a journey on which we are constantly pursuing more sustainable solutions.

Self-produced
electricity

Combined heat and power plant

We produce a large proportion of our electricity ourselves with our combined heat and power plant (CHP). Thanks to a high degree of utilization, we comply with the high-efficiency certificate and thus save a considerable amount of primary energy compared to conventional power plants. This leads to a significant reduction in our CO2 emissions.

Solar energy

Photovoltaic systems

We have installed a modern photovoltaic system on our high-bay warehouse, which generates a considerable amount of electricity per year. In spring 2024, a second PV system was installed on a production roof, which will also supply a significant amount of electricity annually. With these two photovoltaic systems, we can make a significant contribution to saving primary energy. We will continue to invest in renewable energies in the future.

Intelligent
lighting systems

We not only use LED lights, but also intelligent lighting systems: In the high-bay warehouse, only the area in which a forklift truck is currently located is illuminated. The lighting is dimmed accordingly to protect the eyes of our employees.

Our strategy

Our strategy focuses on sustainable climate protection and the reduction of plastic consumption. As pioneers in Germany who have switched from disposable plastic to paper sleeves, we are focusing on recyclable packaging made from natural raw materials. In cooperation with EcoVadis, we are starting to implement reduction measures and offset emissions.

Since 1895, our company has stood for quality and tradition in the manufacture of textile cleaning cloths and specialty textiles. With over a century of experience, we focus on innovation and sustainability in order to offer our customers the best products.

Our commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted in our corporate philosophy.We are IFS Broker certified, a BSCI member and carry the GOTS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and FSC seals. These certifications underline our commitment to ecological and social responsibility.

We are currently working intensively on sustainability reporting in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Our report will show transparently and in detail how we achieve and continuously improve our sustainability goals.

The health and safety of our employees is our top priority. Through continuous training and inspections, we ensure that our working conditions always meet the highest standards. At Kornbusch, we pride ourselves on being a sustainable company.

Our sustainability
team

We not only have an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN 50.001, we also actively live it. Our energy team, consisting of ten employees including a member of management, meets regularly to identify, implement and apply measures to increase energy efficiency and check their effectiveness (PDCA cycle). The improvement in our carbon footprint is a direct result of this. For example, we have invested in the latest compressor control technology, which has led to an improvement in energy efficiency. Our employees also drive electric cars, which further reduces CO₂ emissions.
